Volunteering
Looking to volunteer in the Community Arts sector? You’ve come to the right place! Montage Theatre Arts is seeking friendly, reliable, and motivated volunteers to help support affordable and high-quality performing arts sessions and courses.
Montage Theatre Arts (MTA) is a charitable organisation based in the borough of Lewisham, south-east London. Established in 1998, we provide high-quality performing arts opportunities for children and young people across the borough. Each week, we run 33 regular classes alongside holiday courses, welcoming young people with a wide range of experiences, backgrounds and ambitions
While volunteering with us, we ask you to actively celebrate the power of the performing arts by engaging directly with our wonderful Montage Theatre Arts community. It’s about being a friendly face, a helpful pair of hands, and a shining ambassador of the experience we offer. Are you passionate about helping young people thrive? Does supporting a positive, collaborative, and social atmosphere excite you? Do you want to inspire and champion a future generation of performers? If yes, then join us!
Things you could offer while volunteering:
- Welcoming members of the Montage community with a friendly smile
Engaging with students, parents, and staff as they arrive and throughout the day - Participating in sessions along with students
- Getting involved with games and warm-ups
- Helping facilitate break times
- Being a role model for our Montage students
- Listening out for feedback from the community
- Handing out flyers in the local area
- Updating our community noticeboard

The ideal candidate is…
- Passionate about the Performing Arts (Acting, Dance and Singing)
- Willing to champion a robust safeguarding policy across the organization
- Friendly, approachable, and confident in working with people of all ages and abilities
- Enthusiastic about interacting with a diverse community and creating an inclusive atmosphere at MTA
- A strong team player
- A good communicator and has strong interpersonal skills
- Wanting to gain experience in working with children, performing arts education, customer service, theatre, and event management.

Parent ambassadors
Parent Ambassadors are only expected to give 10 minutes of their time each month.
We provide you with promotional images and copy for our courses, and ask that you share it with your communities.
In return, every succesful referral you make earns you a £10 voucher to spend on any course of your choosing.
Parent Ambassadors help spread the word about our courses and ensure that as many children as possible have access to affordable, inclusive performing arts classes.

Work experience and apprenticeships
Montage Theatre Arts have historically offered Arts Management and Business Apprenticeships in partnership with Lewisham Council and the Creative Society.
We can provide week-long work experience placements for students in both years 10 & 12.
We have also provided longer-term industry placements for university students from various institutions including the Central School of Speech and Drama and Goldsmiths, University of London.

We are currently not seeking any apprentices.
