Why Us?
We are uniquely placed. Founded in 1998, we’ve been supporting the children of Lewisham for nearly 20 years. Our teachers are experts in their fields including many West End professionals from shows such as Billy Elliot, Stomp, Bat Out of Hell and Les Miserables.
MTA provides 30 classes weekly (3 terms of 11 weeks) 33 weeks p.a.
MTA runs a huge bursary and concession programme (over 416 places per year), subsiding our rates to grant access to the arts for all!
MTA recruits, trains, organises and manages up to 30 volunteers
MTA recruits, inducts, organises and manages 10 teachers/facilitators
MTA provides Holiday Programmes, Youth Theatre Company and is a National Theatre Connections Learning Partner
MTA runs workshops and programmes for Over 60’s in Sheltered Housing schemes and in the wider local community.

IT & OFFICE
Are you a tech wiz? Recycling a computer? Have an office chair that isn’t needed?
By providing anything that MTA would normally have to buy, you are donating to a local charity!
Some of our IT is almost antique, and our systems could do with a spruce. If you have some spare time, we have the office (and lots of coffee)!

It’s Showtime!
MTA regularly host mid-scale events for both our students and wider community.
We have, in the past, received extremely generous catering donations to be able to provide refreshments to our audiences (and provide a new customer base for our supporters).
We also often run raffles and competitions as part of events, previous donations have included:
- Haircuts at salons
- Dinner for two
- Cake & Coffee at local cafes
- Manicures
- Theatre Tickets
- Family days out

Amy’s Story…

Amy* is 15 and has been with Montage for four years. Not only does she love to dance, she’s incredibly talented. Dance is her lifeline.
Her younger brother is severely autistic, needing most of the attention her mother can spare. Amy herself has Sickle Cell Anaemia and has to have full blood transfusions four times a year.
In 2012 she took part in the U.Dance finals at the Southbank Centre. She’d had a full transfusion the day before but was so determined to dance that she didn’t tell anyone – that is the level of her commitment. MTA went on to win the event.
Without the £220 per term to fund her place, Amy, and many like her, will have to leave.

Jason’s Story…

Jason* is 17 years old and started with Montage at the age of 3. The family have always struggled financially. His mother has mental health issues and his father died when Jason was young.
When he was 8, his new stepfather banned him from doing anything creative and stopped him coming to Montage. When the stepfather left the family a year later, Jason returned and started to thrive.
So much so that he won a place at the Brit School and yet still comes to us on Saturdays to train, volunteers with our holiday programmes to help the younger children, and fundraises for us.
